I don't even know where to start with this amazing and unique event. Tara and Ryker gathered together with friends and family on Guemes Island in Washington to celebrate their relationship and it was AMAZING.
The weather was stunningly beautiful with brilliantly blue clear skies and gentle ocean breezes, and the whole crew gathered to swim, lounge, go boating, cook amazing seafood in the open air, gather around bonfires, play lawn games, soak in a large dutch bath, and eat under twinkly lights along the driftwood under a large canopy tent. Does it get any better?!
This unity ceremony was a totally non-traditional and non-religious gathering of some amazing souls. The "ceremony" included friends and family spread out on the lawn on picnic blankets and chairs around Tara and Ryker. They opened with stories, like how they first met, and talked about their shared values. They then welcomed stories, toasts, well wishes and advice from guests before all working together to create dinner, which was more along the lines of a seaside feast!
Everything at this gathering was so chill and fun and thoughtful, it really was just a relaxed outing to celebrate the love and unity of two very adventurous and awesome people in love. Some of my favorite touches for the celebration was a family tree that guests could take a polaroid picture and add it to the tree - I love seeing the macro moments guests capture during an event! They also had a Guess Who game with cartoon characters of the guests (I've never seen this done before, how clever!!) and DIY coloring books for the kids with pictures of the couple.
The entire buffet, bar, and table decorations were all DIY efforts, and my FAVORITE was the 4-gallon barrel Tara's mom had made that says "Tara and Ryker Est. 2018" with a special batch of whiskey in it (the shot-ski pictures were especially fun to capture!). There was also a handmade cheese board that Tara made that she decorated with cheese, meats, fruit, nuts, and crackers.. absolutely gorgeous! They also pickled their own veggies and had a homemade bloody mix for the Bloody Mary bar (YUM!).
It was such a fun honor to capture this wedding and I KNOW these two are destined for countless adventures to come! Congrats again Tara and Ryker! <3
